CmA included in the exhibition“YAS” YOUNG ARCHITECTS OF SPAIN, with the project CREAA.
“YAS” YOUNG ARCHITECTS OF SPAIN. TEXAS . November 6 –December 10
The exhibition shows that architectural excellence is found not only in the work of internationally renowned Spanish maestros, but also in the unknown work carried out in the studios of a new generation of professionals, which ensures a promising future for Spanish architecture. The works were selected by means of a public competition open to all young Spanish architects. The more than 700 projects underwent an individual selection process by the members of an international jury composed of prestigious architects such as Alberto Campo Baeza and Manuel Blanco and the architecture critics Kenneth Frampton and Juhnani Pallasma.
Dean Jorge Vanegas will introduce the Curators of the Exhibition: Jesus Aparicio and Jesus Donaire who will provide an Introduction to the Exhibit. Texas A&M Adjunct Professor of Architecture Miguel Roldán will provide the Opening Lecture for the exhibition. Miguel is the Director of the Barcelona Architecture Center (host of Texas A&M’s College of Architecture study abroad program in Spain), and a founding principal of R+B Architects in Barcelona.
Roldán, who founded R+B Architects with Mercé Berengué in 1988, says he is interested in the moment when ideas move themselves into the territory of promises, in discovering the promises in a problematic site, in a confusing program, a low budget, an incomplete product or an uneven slope.
An exhibit of interior designs by Roldán and his R+B partner Mercé Berengué was recently exhibited at the Catalunya College of Architects headquarters in Barcelona. R+B’s recent project PLACA EUROPA TOWER has received numerous awards, including the Premio de Arquitectura Española 2011.
